Why do we have church?

Acts 2:42, 46-47 "(The believers) devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer... Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their home and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God, and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Select this citation to begin editing the text in the properties panel.

Why is there a pastor?

The answer is that we are keeping the clear and overwhelming teaching of the New Testament.  It is clear that when the apostles founded churches, they established groups of elders to oversee the church – this is why we ordain a plurality of elders to spiritually govern local and regional church bodies.  An example is Titus 1:5, where Paul tells Titus, “This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you.”
